Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare to carry out trim repairs and alterations
   • Job requirements are determined from workplace instructions
   • Repair materials are selected and inspected for quality
   • Hazards associated with the work are identified and risks are managed
   • Trimming tools and equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are selected and checked for serviceability
   • Trim materials are matched, measured and cut according to job requirements
   • Work area is prepared and work is planned to minimise waste and use time efficiently
2. Repair and attach trim
   • Repaired trim materials are pre-fitted and checked for alignment and appearance
   • Repair and alteration of trim components are carried out according to manufacturer specifications, workplace procedures and customer requirements
   • Tools and equipment are used according to workplace procedures and safety and environmental requirements
3. Complete work processes
   • Final inspection is made to ensure work meets workplace expectations and repaired component is presented ready for use
   • Work area is cleaned, waste and non-recyclable materials are disposed of, and recyclable material is collected and stored
   • Tools and equipment are checked, reported if faulty, and stored according to workplace procedures
   • Workplace documentation is processed according to workplace procedures

procedures for final inspection of trim repair and alterations.
